Haylage and Straw

Smiths Green livery Yard produces all its own hay - haylage and straw so we are always guaranteed highest quality weed free forage.
Our fields are regularly re-seeded with grasses especially developed for hay and haylage with horses in mind.

We put 8 layers of green plastic wrap on each haylage bale this makes sure that the bale is air tight and allows fermentation to take place, this preserves the bale with no waste. Our haylage is entirely natural and we do not use any artificial preservatives, we aim to bale and wrap within 6 hours.

Then after about 2 months we send a sample of the haylage to be laboratory tested to check for the nutritional levels and quality.

Our hay is barn stored and ready for use after 2 months.

Smiths green livery yard produces 3 different bale sizes for all of its forage - small conventional bales (1 horse) - medium size bales (1 to 2 horses) and large bales (2 horses upwards).

We have been producing hay - haylage and straw especially made for horses for the past 15 years.

Our hay - haylage and straw is delivered around our yard every week it can also be collected from Smiths Green or delivered locally direct to you.
